Results of Tests & Investigations
From time to time, you might have diagnostic tests such as blood tests, urine tests, x rays, scans, or smears performed. It is important that patients receive results of all investigations, therefore before you leave the surgery, you should agree some arrangement for getting these results e.g. a follow-up appointment or to contact the surgery.
Generally, we do not contact patients unless their results are abnormal and require some action before their next appointment. However, occasionally results are delayed or even get lost, therefore it is wise not to presume that “no news is good news”. This advice applies as much to investigations done entirely outside of our practice, such as mammograms, colon cancer screening, and so on.
